L2SLiberia is the Liberia office of Letters to Strangers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, independently registered in Liberia and accredited by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
The Problem We Are Solving
Three barriers keep millions of Liberians from mental health care. Every element of L2SLiberia was built to break through them.
Over 50% of Liberians earn less than $3 per day. Mental health care is unaffordable — and poverty generates the very conditions it prevents people from treating.
Mental illness is misunderstood as spiritual failure or curse. Stigma silences suffering and sustains harmful responses to people in crisis.
Mental health services exist almost exclusively in Monrovia. Across the rest of Liberia, dedicated care is virtually absent.
Our Solution
An integrated system of three interconnected components — designed so no matter who calls, where they are, or what they are carrying, there is a path forward.
